1 Peter focuses on the following:
the sovereignty of God
the example and reign of Christ
the work of the Spirit within the church as "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God's special possession" (1 Peter 2:9)
These topics are especially relevant today. For in so doing, Peter helps us to recover the future focus of our faith in order that we might face the current challenges and anxieties of living as "exiles" in this world (1 Peter 1:1; 2:11; 5:7). This will aid Christians in confronting secularism, moral temptations, and the unjust suffering that comes our way as believers
